MEET
VIRGINIA

Hi, I’m Virginia Dyer, the founder and owner of Virginia’s Chambers International Recovery – Praying to Stay Alive. I’m passionate about helping the elderly in our community to live the full, happy and healthy lives that they deserve.

I have always been passionate about helping those in need, with extensive real world experience helping others. I've previously spent time rehabilitating and mentoring those suffering from addiction.

The increasing loneliness and isolation of many of the older members of our community is something that has long concerned me, and this problem has only gotten worse during the pandemic. According to Age UK, more than 2 million people in England over the age of 75 live alone, with more than 1 million older people saying that they go for over a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour, or family member. Virginia’s Chambers International Recovery exists to do something about that.

For some time now we’ve been holding weekly meetings in Hartlepool where we come together to worship, meditate and have a good old-fashioned chin wag. We now think the time is right for us to go further.

The bible calls us to devote ourselves to the care of others regardless of their age and, as Christians, I believe it is our duty to carry out this teaching. I should stress that our activities are open to people of all religions and of none.

We want to provide a wide range of activities, holding outdoor sessions for worship, discussion and to provide mutual support to each other through respectful conversation.

If you know anyone who you think could be helped by taking part in our activities, please get in touch. And remember that we couldn’t do what we do without your kind donations, so please, give what you can.

Thank you.
